When trying to drag more than one file on my desktop, my Finder crashes.

Sometimes I can grab a few and drag them to where I want them, but the very next attempt causes another crash.

So far, only dragging one file at a time seems to work but gets tedious.

Any ideas on a fix??

Thanks.

What OS?
What updates?
What kinda files?
Checked Permissions?

OS X Panther

10.3 (don't need the fixes in .1 so I haven't nabbed it yet, and things were working fine up til yesterday).

Mostly image files, but the same thing happened with a couple mp3's and a .dmg file.

Where do I check permissions?

In Disk Utility (in Utilities application forlder - or whatever it's called in English).

Where are you copying the files from? Int. HD, CD, etc? Do you have proper permissions on the files? Do you have sufficient space on your HD? Any hacks to the OS? Clean install vs. update?
These are all wild guesses, but I really can't see what other could be making your finder crash...

Yep. It's Disk Utility and it's located the Applications/Utilities folder.

I'm trying to organize some files on my internal HD. I'm not copying them anywhere; I'm just moving them from one place to another.

Have about 17GB of room on my HD so that's not an issue. No hacks to the OS either other than I'm running Konfabulator. I did an update, not a clean install but like I said, it's been working fine until now.

One word: weird

How 'bout trying to move them with the Terminal to see if the problem is coming from Finder.app or the system?

No idea how to do that. :)

Fixing the permissions didn't work, either.

I have the same problem with Finder. Interstingly I also have a 12" 867 Mhz. PowerBook G4.
If I try copying more than 1 file finder crashes. I'm updated to 10.3.1 and everything works just fine if I do it from the terminal, so it seems it is a finder only issue.

Any resolution yet?

Delete the finder preference file in you Library's Preferences Folder.

Its called com.apple.finder.plist
Delete it, and see if that fixes it.
