I'm having a strange problem with finder. One of the unprivileged users on the computer can't get a finder window. Everytime the finder Icon on the dock is clicked, the icons on the desktop flash and the menu bar at the top disappears. The only way to get the menu bar back is to start another application and kill it, then the menu bar for finder is there. Clicking on the finder icon will once again make the menu bar disappear. This does not happen with the user named admin.

All software is up to date, and I did a fix disk permissions. No luck.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Solved! I had to go to finder->Preferences and change "New Finder windows show" from "All My Files" to anything else and finder started working properly again. Even after a reboot.

I love how macs just work, except when they just don't:)
