I was messing around with chmod in terminal (stupid, I know) and i changed my root directory (/) permissions to 775. Now, all of my finder dialogues are replaced by something... For instance, my empty trash button now says N201, and the trash is now called N39! I copied something, and I got another weird number/letter combo. HELP! Request a screenshot and you shall get one, but I'm having a little trouble with that too! How can I fix this?

Can you still open Disk Utility? If so, try to repair permissions on that drive. Or you may have to boot into your OS X install DVD and repair permissions from there.

Here are screenies, I got it working again (repair permissions and relaunch finder), but why does it do that? What do the letters and numbers mean?
