I was browsing Finder today, I asked it to open a random text file, and it froze up. I right-clicked on its icon in the dock, and selected "Relaunch Finder".

This caused it to restart obviously, but every file that was save to the desktop is now deleted, as is half of the files that were in my home folder. Is there any way to retrieve these files?

I have a Macbook, vers. 10.4.11.
