I recently lost my Sony MicroVault and so I set out to buy a cheap replacement. Ended up with a fake Sony 1GB stick which is presented as an Alcor brand memory stick.
For some reason, never mind the fact that this thing is excruciatingly slow (oh well, it was only about $15), every time I finish a transfer to it, the Finder seems to restart (desktop icons disappear then reappear). This also happens with my mother's Chinese-branded (but authentic, but then again, it probably also uses crappy Alcor-esque parts) USB drive, but I don't remember it happening with my MicroVault.
Is this behaviour normal? Or is it fixable? Does it have anything to do with the drive's formatting (FAT32)?
Thanks.
