In finder when you drag folders like "Desktop" or "Downloads" or "Pictures" from Mac\Users\Username\ into the sidebar, they all get a custom icon not just the regular blue folder treatment. Where can I find those sidebar icons so I can apply them to folders I have elsewhere on my hardrive? Thanks!

Or does anyone know where to find them online if not on my hard drive?

Actually, those icons are the normal icons. The icon package used has a different icon for sizes that small (since you'd never see the download emboss on the folder at that size). At bigger sizes, it changes back to the blue folder.

drag your "pictures" folder from you user folder into the sidebar. notice the icon for "pictures" is not a blue folder but rather a small silver camera. how do i get that icon to appear for a different folder in my sidebar? if i open both folders up and get info and copy/paste the icon over, it doesn't show the silver camera.. instead it shows a blue folder with the outline of camera in the middle.

surely someone must know how to do this?

I'm trying to tell you, it's the same icon file. Apple uses the blue folder icon down to a certain size. Below that size, it uses the icon you're talking about (but it's all in the same icon file). Because they do it this way, there's not a high-resolution version built-in. Find a custom icon set that looks close enough and use those. Or find it in the directory Intell provided.

You're wrong. Don't believe me? Switch your Home folder to list or column view - you'll see blue folder icons at the smallest size.

Edit: The file you want is:

/System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources/ToolbarPicturesFolderIcon.icns

That contains the camera icon right up to the highest resolution for icons (512x512).

So I accidentally deleted the pictures folder from my sidebar. When I go drag it back in there, it is no longer the camera icon, but the blue folder icon with a small camera image inside. How do I get this back to the old camera icon that will match the rest of my icons in the sidebar (film clip for "movies", music notes for "music", etc). The plain blue folder is driving me nuts...
