Hi,
I am on a network with a MacBook Pro. The devices on the network are:

The rooter called "modem"
A MacMini called "ozlem"
The MacBook Pro named "Emre's Macbook Pro" (The one I am using)

In Finder's Sidebar, under Shared menu, I see a device named macbookpro-ee5c.

I checked;
Settings/Sharing/File Sharing
Settings/Sharing/Remote Management

which are the only services enabled under Sharing and they both say "Computers on your local network can access your computer at: Emres-MacBook-Pro.local"

I know this "macbookpro-ee5c" must be my computer. But why is it named macbookpro-ee5c instead of Emre's Macbook Pro? What can I do to correct this annoying thing?

Thanks a lot.

Try checking the Netbios name under System Preferences > Network > Advanced > WINS.

For some reason that name also exists and might be where tis coming from. Mine is also macbookpro- with some numbers, similar to yours.

That was it. Thanks a lot.
