I am not sure how to do exactly what you're asking, but I know that you can gain greater control of Finder preferences via Terminal.
Open Terminal, type in thise command to see all the available options:
defaults read com.apple.Finder
Look for the option you need and change (re-write) its value (there's a LOT of options, I am not sure which one will fulfill your desire).
Here is a manual page for that command: https://ss64.com/osx/defaults.html. Hope this helps.
I just wrote about this, so I'm quoting myself about what I just did:
CMD-tabbed to Finder (I had no previous open windows), CMD-N for a new window; did absolutely nothing but resize it (so no moving, or navigating); CMD-W to close it.

I've had (minor) problems as well. If I click on the Finder icon in the Dock or using uBar, it's the same result. Both methods open the same size and view (column) as when I last opened it. But if I open a Finder window by clicking on the Macintosh SSD icon on the desktop, it only remembers until the next reboot. Then it defaults back to a small window, icon view. Weird.
