Finder switches highlight color to grey?

(Cross-posting because it seems to be related to touch-bar macs)

Does this happen to anyone else?

My highlight color in Finder is set to blue (default), but occasionally it will switch to this dark grey.
A restart resolves the issue, but it's kind of annoying/concerning. Does this happen to anyone else?

The only thing I could find was that this happened to one other person, and the common link seems to be that it happens when you change the touch bar icons to something other than default....
