Finder takes a long time to load on Save.

Ever since upgrading to Mavericks I've been having an issue where I go to Save a file for the first time, and in the Save dialogue box it will take a very long time for the list of folders to load. This happens pretty frequently, and I've had it take up to 2 or 3 minutes for the list of folders to appear. This never happened even once before I installed Mavericks. What could be causing it and are there any possible resolutions? Thanks in advance.
