With my new DSLR/RAW shots, I've bloated iPhoto to over 105GB for just over 20,000 photos.
Was doing housecleaning, deleting files and the "aw sh*t" moment hit where I deleted some i wanted.
Went into TimeMachine and did a Restore to my external 2TB HD (FW800) as temp place.
Now, when I went to delete that 105GB file started last night 10:30 pm, here 7.5 hr later:
iPhoto%20105GB%20150%2C000%20items%20delete.jpg

still churning away.....wtf did I do wrong??

Just because of you!

It's because you have done something wrong now look at it
Go to finder preferences and click on advanced and disable empty trash securely.

Likely is due to be due to being a hell of a lot of small files. If it's slowly chugging away, let it be. Not entirely sure how OSX does disc defragmentation but you might be seeing that happen due to the size of the trash delete. But an accidental secure delete much more likely! If it's on secure - cancel the delete unselect then redepete what's left.

Thx people!!!

I came home from work and still there were 20,000+ files left. Stopped, un-checked the secure box.
Took about 20 seconds this time!
