Finder UI slowdown during GPU intensive tasks? 16” MBP

I’m realizing every time I do certain tasks - a good example is rendering a video in Twinmotion - my finder UI slows to a crawl. It takes five seconds for a click to register, for a window to move to the front of the screen, for anything. When this happens, CPU usage is very minimal, but my 5500M is showing 48W usage on Radeon High Side (iStat), so I’m assuming it’s going full blast.
Is this happening to others? And is it actually meant to be that way??

If the GPU is consuming that much then there’s nothing left to accelerate the GUI. That can happen to most operating systems depending on the app and the stress
