Finder unresponsive with windows network mount?

When I connect to my WHS11/Windows Server 2003 R2 box everything is fine at first, but at some time the finder becomes unresponsive. Thru VLC I can browse and open files on the server. I can also force a dismount of the win server and if I do then Finder wakes up again.
Does anyone have any ideas?
