Hi, I had heard accounts of minis haing 5400 RPM hard drives from time to time. I would like to find out if mine does - Is there any way to do it without taking out the drive and loking at it?

I tried system profiler and it tells me nothing... Maybe I could do a benchmark? anyone with a known 4200 or 5400 hd willing to give me a benchmark in kB/sec transfer rate?

The way to find out the speed of your hard drive is to get the drives details from the system profiler.

It may be displayed like this

Bus Type (Serial-ATA Bus in my G5)
Maxtor 6Y160M0 (manufacturer and then model number)

When you have these details go to the manufacturers website and find the specifications for the drive.
