hi, how can i find out when my macbook pro unibody came out.
such as late 2008 or early 2009 as an example?

Get MacTracker (free download). Then go in the "About this mac" window, click more info, and go in the Hardware section.

There will be a model number like MacBookPro5,5. Paste this in MacTracker and you'll find out.

If you have an umbp with a non removable battery then it is the June 2009 version unless its a 17 inch but the process will still be the same. If its the one with the removable batter then its the late 2008 version.
