yeah it affects me, bought mine back in nov 2001 on release day. however, i have never had a problem with my xbox luckily (knock on wood) and this cord issue doesnt apply to me either but I will be getting it changed just in case. sucks to have such a huge recal, but it does happen... tires, ford, gm, logic boards, etc etc.

one good point, its free!

yeah, same for me really - never had any problems but it's best to be on the safe side, eh?
 
I got an email from them, mine needs replacing as well. Good thing I never used it much.
