Firefox 26 for OS X apparently blocks Java now permanently - without possibility to activate it. See these pictures:

https://fotos.gmx.net/ui/external/NU4MGj9rQkacbe7pt4Bm4A08601

On the left is Safari 6.1.1 (with Java working after getting permission), on the right is Firefox 26 (claiming that there is no Java installed). Both show the same website and exactly the same is happening on all websites that require Java. Another example are websites with VoIP tests (i. e. http://voiptest.8x8.com/).

As you can see in the pictures the latest version of Java for OS X (Java 7 Update 45) is installed and enabled.

Is this the same or different for other Firefox 26 users, or is there a way to get Java working in Firefox 26 for OS X?

If you see the red java plugin icon at left end of input bar, simply click on it and make your choice on action. Java has been disabled by default, due to security concerns.

Did you look at the pictures? There is no Java icon at the end of the input bar because Firefox assumes that there is no Java installed - and Firefox is also not finding any "suitable" plugin that could be installed.

No, could not load pictures - may be my restrictions through Little Snitch that prevented it.

May I suggest that you look at the Firefox support page, where it explains it, and offers solutions.

Have you try this?

I found the solution. For whatever reason Firefox on my computer was set to open in 32-bit mode - then the Java plugin does not work. As soon as I put this back to normal (= 64-bit mode) Java worked again.

That's weird since the link leads to a normal https page. Little Snitch would not prevent this (unless you have set it to prevent any https pages). What happens when you click the link?

Heh - found my problem, too! It is Javascript, which I never allow.

Glad you got Firefox sorted.
