Mozilla Firefox 3.5 RC1 is available now! http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.5rc1/

Official Release site: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html (not yet updated)

Just started downloading my copy for OS X. Hope I won't be disappointed. (-:

- a little while later...

Firefox 3.5 RC1 owns Firefox 3, it's leaner on resources, snappy performance even on G4 PPC and all my Add-ons are all compatible too. Nice, good browser Mozilla - I like!

and here are the Acid3 Results.

Why did my thread get merged? RC1 is out now and my thread got merged into a pre-RC1 thread?

I'll pass on this one. Their was a link like this to mindfield, and that was a disaster!

 I'm not seeing any disasters here Michaelgtrusa - I think it's actually a really great browser, better than Firefox 3 for sure.

If it was a reference to the obscured URL... here is the official page:

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.5/releasenotes/

Users who have FF 3.5b4 installed will get it through Firefox updates.

Also downloading a release candidate is a lot different from downloading a Minefield... they're pretty much done, barring any unforeseen bugs that pop up in the next few days.

I just installed it. I shall now click "Submit Reply" and then let Firefox restart. :)

So far, I am quite impressed with FF 3.5. :)

I'm sure they've done quite work to make the code tighter. Now it's faster, sure, but still lacks at some points.

For sure. Notably, Firefox right now doesn't have the kind of Javascript execution times that Chrome and Safari 4 do. But retaining all the goodness of FF3, it's a great step up from there.

Downloading Now, FF3 is my only browser.

Found it for OS X in DMG form on Softpedia.

I downloaded firefox mindfield and it was a disaster! it was from a link.

I have 3.5b4 and I love it. Mindfield? No thanks. I have to give up my plugins.

Once again, you have to understand the difference between a minefield, a beta, and a release candidate. The release candidate is more stable than the beta you were using, not less. Firefox will automatically download it (if you have this enabled), or you can get it by checking for updates from the menu. If you're using Beta 4, you should definitely upgrade.

1- Do you guys know any addons that fixes the awkward behavior of green zoom button and makes it Safari-like (zoom to fit the contents)?

2- Firefox doesn't accept my custom key command i made at System Preferences/Keyboard&Mouse for Window/Zoom for ages. Any addon to make my custom key command for this specific function?

3- Command+Control+D while hovering my mouse over any text give an instant dictionary description of that word in Safari. Is there any addon to fix this too?

Does this disable the rotate touchpad gesture to switch tabs? I had the pre-release Beta installed, worked fine then I had an autoupdate to the 99 release last night and it killed it. I tried re-installing the pre-release and then had all sorts of errors with it freezing upon start up then continuously creating a 91MB backup file in my Profiles folder every 30 seconds.

Anyone else run into something like this? I fixed it by just deleting the entire Application Support folder for Firefox and starting from scratch.

I think 2 & 3 are dictated by Cocoa interface elements, and for now there's no way to get the official version of them in Firefox. I'm sure there might be Firefox add-ons that emulate the functionality, but I don't think they give you the official functionality.

I had the same problem, but with the mindfield release.
