Since updating both web browsers I have noticed that Firefox is just smoking Safari in almost every way imaginable on my early 08 MBP 2.4Ghz, 2 GB RAM. No matter what every time I launch Safari it is just slow. After typing in a web address Safari just sits there and then takes at least 2 or 3 seconds longer to load the same website as Firefox. BTW, I have cleared the cache of both browsers so they should be running on the same playing field. Also every since upgrading to Safari 4.0 I have noticed that Safari is a lot more unstable. Lots of crashes and lock ups.

I was just curious to see if anyone else was noticing the same thing. Is anyone else noticing that Firefox is running circles around Safari.

Firefox 3.5 sometimes crashes on me when I look at Youtube channels with the new layouts. It makes me mad but I still love Firefox for its add-ons.

I haven't had FF crash on me ever since the 3.5 RC. And I run about 15 addons and FF is still faster than Safari for me.

Hmm, I've experienced the exact opposite. FF3.5 crashes frequently, S4 is fine. Both are fairly fast, but Safari maybe a little faster.

I guess it's weird how things work. Before I upgraded to Safari 4.0, Safari was perfect. It wasn't lightening fast, but it was very stable. Now it's just the opposite. I guess it could be my computer, I was just curious if anyone else was having this problem.

Maybe my eyes just aren't quick enough to detect drastic differences in the speed of web browsers, but both seem to be pretty fast to me. "Slow" seems like a very relative term here.
