I did a search for "download day firefox" and similar queries but found nothing to do with this so forgive me if a similar topic exists.

So, going to spreadfirefox.com you will see a big deal about "Download Day 2008." There's a neat country map with numbers of people in each that have pledged to download Firefox on the release day. So has anyone here pledged?

I've pledged, I've been using Firefox 3 Beta and RC's for a long time now.

I hope they have a detailed roadmap soon. in 2 weeks?

I won't bother pledging but if somehow I get informed on the day I will download it.

I pledged. I'm using RC1 right now, along with the nightly of WebKit. Love my developmental browsers! :D

Cute... it's a gimmick, but publicity for Firefox is good... good for OSS, good for reducing the presence of MSIE in the market, and good for emphasizing the importance of developing for whatever platform (Mac, Linux, etc) for which you download the new version.

I'd pledge, I guess, but I'm moving to Chicago, and since they don't actually have a promise date for FF3, I don't know if I'll even have very ready internet access that day for my iMac. And my Eee probably won't get updated until FF3 is released through the Ubuntu repositories.

yes indeed, beta 5 has a severe bug on Ubuntu, I hope the final would be out soon for it.

You're talking about the two Tell Me If... options in Security settings that, if enabled, cause Firefox to repeatedly lock the system?

This is one of those things I find irksome about the Linux community. Neither RC1 nor RC2 have been made available through Ubuntu's repository system to date. Whenever a person who isn't a diehard Linux fanatic (e.g. me) complains about this, people recommend I just manually install the newest Firefox. Then they gloss over what will happen when the package manager tries to update the firefox package later. Firefox isn't like some minor application for a system like Ubuntu Desktop, and Ubuntu desktop is, for better or worse, the standard bearer for the Linux world outside the diehard community.

Since they decided to put 3.0b5 in Ubuntu 8.04, they should be rolling out revisions to the release candidates in 24-48 hours of release.

yes, firefox 3 beta 5 calls fsync way too often on linux, especially with Ubuntu 8.04's ext3 file system, it gets worse.

Mozilla said ubuntu/FC/SUSE all have patches, I wonder whats taking them so long to update the repo.....

Ubuntu finally rolled out a distributed update over the past day. :)

Now the problem is Sage doesn't work with the latest 3.0.... Anyone have a link for a Sage beta for the new FF? I was on 1.9.4....
