Firefox and Safari frequent crashes

i have an older G4 1.25 GHz that runs well except my browsers, safari and firefox, crash within a minute or two of use. they'll crash in seconds if i try to watch a video on youtube or the like. somebody told me that it is probably a flash issue. if so, how can i fix it? i can't use spotlight to find any files or programs because i use an application that mandates i disable spotlight. or could it be something other than a flash issue? thanks to anyone who can help.

BTW- i'm running Tiger 10.4.11 and both firefox and safari are the latest versions allowable on my OS

Check the Console app right after the crash to look for details as well as the crash reports.

Is the installed version of Flash the most recent? You can check that here.
