hey,

I just successfully installed firefox and it appeared as a disk image on my desktop. After rebooting, I open firefox and the disk image still appears every time. [Correct me if I'm wrong] but I thought that after you install the program and reboot, the disk image goes away.

*will look back on this thread in a few months, and recall my days of being a clueless newb :p *

Is it possible that my shortcut on the dock is not configured properly ?

regards,

You are mistaken.

Double-click on the disk image icon.
Notice the new mounted volume on the Desktop.
Open the new mounted volume.
Drag the Firefox icon to your Applications folder or where ever you want to place it.
Dismount the Firefox mounted volume. (Drag it to the trash.)
Drag the disk image file (*.dmg) to the trash.
Double-click on the Firefox icon to launch it.

By the way (in case anyone reading this is a Mac newbie like myself), that's how most apps on OSX are installed. It's incredibly simple. And uninstalling is usually just as simple. Man I love OSes that are designed for use by real people.
