Following the launch of Firefox 3.0 in 2008, Mozilla said that it wanted to adjust its release management model and adopt shorter development cycles with an emphasis on point releases.
During the upcoming cycle for the next version of the browser, Mozilla is planning to take the incremental development strategy a step further. It says that some of the features that are planned for Firefox 3.7 could potentially be rolled out early as minor point updates to Firefox 3.6. These updates will focus on "enablement changes" that enhance the browser under the hood in ways that improve the user experience without disrupting it.

In a discussion about the Firefox roadmap, Mozilla informed us that they regard process isolation for plug-ins as a very high priority and hope to roll it out to users in a 3.6.5 update. They want to make that feature available as soon as possible rather than saving it for a major release.
