I've got a macbook 13" with leopard (10.5.2) and ever since I got this computer 8 months ago, whenever I chose to just open (not save to...) a file, a copy of the file would remain in the "Downloads Folder". However, since yesterday or maybe even two days ago, the copies of the opened files were saved onto my Desktop.
From my understanding, Tiger saved the opened files to the Desktop and Leopard had a new way of saving the files to the Downloads Folder. Well, now for some reason it doesn't do it anymore. I'm really confused...a few nights ago I was fiddling around with the preferences in Firefox (ie clearing cookies, showing download manager, closing download manager after download finishes, etc). But no where did I see anything saying to change the location of where to save opened files.
I'm really confused. Please help!!! I did not mess with anything in the system or anything and I do not use Safari--so no settings in Safari have been tampered with. The Downloads Folder keeps everything neat and clean, now my Desktop is becoming cluttered!
Thanks in advance for any advice!!!
