So I had a late 2011 15" macbook pro that some of the time was used as a laptop, some of the time connected to a 4 year old external monitor. The laptop died and 2 weeks ago I got a new 15" macbook pro with retina display, and a week ago a new monitor (started as a regular 27" and that got returned and it's now a 24" 4k monitor).

What I'm experiencing is that when I'm running the laptop as a laptop, everything looks fine. When I connect to the external monitor, everything looks fine except one application, Firefox. It's rendering with everything incredibly compressed and small, unreadable.

I'm running the latest versions of Yosemite and Firefox. Firefox is at v 34.0.5. At least that's what I think it says, the text is so tiny it's hard to tell. I've tried starting Firefox without any add ons to see if that was part of the issue, but no joy.

Safari and Opera look fine, no issues. I haven't seen this with any other app, just Firefox. I'm ok switching to Safari as my default but I'd love to have the option to use Firefox. There are some extensions there I really like that aren't available in Safari.

Any idea how to remedy this?
