Background:
I just made an upgrade to my dual 1.25ghz G4 MDD desktop. I installed an additional, internal drive containing 10.4.11 and a latest version of OS 9. My original drive has 10.2.8 and the latest version of 9. The new drive is now my startup drive.
I used migration assistant to move my documents and applications from the original drive to the new one. I worked through some problems including getting Entourage to work.
The Entourage success seems to have happened accidentally as a result of manually moving some files to a created storage folder. I wanted to immediately protect/backup some files on the new drive, since my external drive had failed and I had no backups.
Two things occurred as a result of this moving of files. My new desktop assumed the appearance of my old one [which I liked], including all icons and desktop photo, and Entourage worked [which I wanted].
What did I do that caused my desktop to appear? First I thought when I was choosing my new drive as the startup drive I was not actually succeeding in the change, but I determined I was.
An aside: If I start up on the old drive [as I have not yet erased it with the intent of using it as my backup drive], I can move about on it and examine things, but then fairly soon I get a white, centered window telling me I should restart.
The current, main problem:
I opened Firefox and got a window indicating I should upgrade the version. I did so. After that, Firefox will not open, and the icon on the dock is replaced by an icon bearing the "A" letter from the applications folder. It is graphically that same A.
Any thoughts on how I can fix this Firefox issue?
Thank you.
