are you sure it's firefox? slows my PPCs down but not my intels. watch your CPU usage in activity monitor while you use firefox to make sure,

other than that, uninstall the addons and reinstall one at a time and see which is the culprit

Alot of people use FireFox? I have never used it because safari is so much faster, and with WebKit its 10 times faster than Fox. anyone care to comment.

....nice dream. Hopefully you don't represent average safari/webkit browser users....:p
pretty sure it is firefox. when i use safari it does not happen. also, i remember installing an add-on where a few reviews mentioned having the same problem. i just can not remember which one it was.

what are your addons then? care to list them?

I recently installed a bunch of firefox add-ons and now my computer is slow. by that i mean it frequently freezes when i am in the middle of typing. anyone have an idea of which one's are known to do that. thanks.

try to find out by disabling the add-ons one at a time until your machine is not slow anymore. Once you found out, disable all but this one and see if it is still slow.

Which plugins do you have installed?

I didn't see any of them suspicious of slowing down the system tho, firebug might slow down browser a bit.

You should uninstall the ones you dont use, and disable rest of them, then enable one by one see if any of then might be the cause. Among your addons, I have

image zoom
adblock+

Im pretty sure they are fine.

Are you 100% sure it's firefox? You should run Activity Monitor (Applications>Utilities>Activity Monitor) to see what program is slowing your system down. If it is firefox, then you can feel free to uninstall add ons, if it's not, then you can end the process that is slowing down your computer.
