firewire 800 problem

My firewire 800 stopped working on my Mac Power 2 GHZ PC G5 so I purchased a Firewire IEEE 1394B PCI card to replace the bad port. Well, it works, but the images are sometimes messed up. They do open, but half of the image is off color or split or not lined up. Is there something I can do to fix this problem or is the card not compatible with my older G5?
