I guess the question is two-fold, but the issues are related, so here goes.
I am looking for an external dvd burner, and will be buying from OWC. The purpose will be mainly to use to backup CD's and DVD's to an external HDD. For this purpose, is the price difference justifiable between the $59 USB 2.0 burner and the $99 burner that has firewire and e-sata? I don't ever foresee using the e-sata.
Part of the reason I am asking is that I have read the SnowLeopard OS caused some issues with firewire, more especially with external HDD's attached by firewire. I don't have any firewire devices yet; so no experience. I've even put off buying the external drive I want to store this stuff on until I can figure out if firewire is a problem, or was fixed. I know speed-wise it is worthwhile, but I mean in overall reliability.
Thanks.
