I need to find a firewire 800 enclosure for my hard drives. They're hard to find these days. Any recommendations?

A new or used one? I’m sure there’s used ones on eBay/similar; mechanical drive fails, most people will just buy a new drive.

I think akitio still make one? What Mac are you using, there may be an easier option than fw800 given its scarcity.

Akitio is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks SO much!

Where are you based? I’m in UK and I think I have a couple of the old OWC Mercury Elite Pro’s somewhere that were multi-interface like USB2 / FW800 / eSATA gathering dust I don’t mind offloading for v reasonable £... (use USB3 stuff these days...). PM me if you’re interested I’ll see if I can find them. May not be worth international shipping though.

I'm both US and UK based.

As much as I liked it, firewire is now a "technology fading off into the sunset".

I'd suggest you get USB3 enclosures instead.
They'll be just as fast, and are backward-compatible with USB2 as well.

If any of your drives are 2.5", this might be a good enclosure:

Lol I have plenty of USB 3 enclosures, I need a firewire one for a specific use case. But thanks. ;)
