Apple claims to have identified the firewire glitch as a problem with the oxford chip used only in the FW800 enclosures. However, I've heard of users who've had their iPods go bad, and iPods are FW400 - not 800. What's up with this???
Also, I just ordered a new iBook G4. I want to transfer my 40+ GB of data from my 12" Powerbook to the new iBook. If I connect the two together using one in target-disk-mode will it experience the FW problem, virtually killing my data? Or is this problem caused only when installing Panther?
