I've got an iBook G4, and use an external Firewire hard drive (200GB).
Everything is a-ok, except when the iBook goes to sleep. When it wakes, the Firewire drive is still on the desktop, but if I try and open it or use it in some way, the Finder hangs and I get the spinning beachball of death.
If I yank the Firewire plug out of the iBook, the beachball stops immediately and the Finder becomes usable again. It immediately gives me a warning about device removal.
I haven't used Firewire drives before - is this supposed to happen? I want the external drive to remount properly after the iBook wakes from sleep. Is there anything I can do?
