Hello,
I just got a new firewire 3.5'' hd bay and a matching 40 gig hd, which I planned on buying in order to do some serious audio processing on a rev c. 15'' pb (bto, 1gig) using GarageBand and Logic Express.
When recording an audio track in a project located on the startup drive (5400 rpm, 16mb cache), everything works just fine in both gb and le.
After having moved the very same project on my external drive... well, Garageband gives me a good 10 seconds lag before starting the recording, and LE seems to hang half a sec.
The drive seems to be fine, running through FW400. The volume is formatted using FAT32 (I may need to host backups from a PC on this drive one day (cf. sig.), and I couldn't figure how to partition for HPFS+ and FAT32 at the same time )...
Does anyone have any ideas? Is there a tool that can benchmark my hard drive? Is FAT32 the culprit?
Thanks a lot!
