Firewire Issue with New Macs?

I am going to be switching over to a macbook pro soon but had some concerns over a potential problem with the firewire chipset being included on post Oct. 2007 macs. Here is a link to another message board where some discussions have already been taking place. I figured I would post it here to see if any other non-audio mac users or anybody else for that matter could provide some insight.

There is a thread discussing it here. Early indications seem to be that the Penryn MBPs (but not MBs) are back to using a TI chipset.
