So here's the issue I have,

I have a 500 gb mybook with firewire and usb. i've been using firewire forever until the other day it couldn't connect. I was terrified that the drive was dead (especially since I just bought a new drive to replace another drive that was on its way out)

so i plugged in the USB and it was fine! in theory it wouldn't be an issue, but the problem is that its currently my scratch drive for my video editing and I know that USB isn't as good as firewire.

I've been looking around online and it appears that I'm not the only one but so far found no solutions. anyone have any ideas?

is it still under warranty? the firewire port may have just died. unfortunately it happens from time to time. if it's under warranty, you should be able to get a new one no prob i would think.
