Had the strangest problem earlier today. I rebooted my iMac and for some reason my external hdd (macally + 2tb western digital) would not be recognized no matter what connection i used. I tried the usb 2.0 and firewire 800. Rebooted the pc several times, nothing. I then took it to a windows pc and plugged it in via usb and it showed a device being connected. So i then hooked it back up to my iMac using the other firewire 800 port and it was recognized. I'm not sure if the port on the enclosure was the problem or if it was something else.
This is my first iMac in quite some time. In fact i was going to buy a mac mini and widescreen monitor but by the time you add those together its about the same price as the iMac, except the iMac had a much better display and lo and behold a quad core processor! So the decision to go iMac was an easy one, especially since they were on sale at best buy last week.
Anyhow any help or insight would be appreciated. I just want to make sure if this happens again i know where to look and what to do. Thanks in advance.
