Heaven or Hell
i have heard that the firewire ports on the new Mac Pros dont have as much power as the old G5 Towers and that they easily can go bad..........
So my question is, Can you buy a 3rd party Firewire Card for your Mac Pro that is top of the line, and better than the built-in FireWire Card....?

thanks in advance !

Firewire is Firewire. You can choose between FW400 and FW800.

True, but implementations differ.
For example, I have an external Firewire/USB enclosure that used to be powered off the bus on my PowerBook 15inch. When connected to my MacBook Pro, it doesn't have enough power to operate and I have to plug it into an alternate power source to get it to run.
Perhaps it's this kind of difference the original poster was referring to.
