Been using iMove for a couple of years with a Canon GL1, no connection problems/no transfer problems, introduce a new Sony handycam to the equation.....I have discovered that Sony has NOT engineered firewire capability into this camera, ONLY USB.....hence, has Mac got anything that will allow the video to be transferred via USB (without the intermediate step of transferring between devices....camera to camera)?????????????????????????????????????

Please, somebody send help....and quick????

Depends on the model of Sony you have.

iMovie'08 has expanded support for non-miniDV/HDV camcorders. Many USB Sony camcorders are supported, but only if they record in MPEG-2(SD) or AVCHD(HD). Post the model number or check Apple's Compatibility Page for yourself.

Good Luck!
