firmeware 2.0 to 1.1.4

Just wanting to know if it is possible to convert the 2.0 firmware to 1.14 so that it can be unlocked?
Has anyone tried this?
I really want the 3g model, but I also want to be able to use it unlocked.
I'm not sure if they have successfully unlocked the firmeware as of yet.

The 1.1.4 firmware probably doesn't work on the 3G iPhone.
