When do AirTags update? I've had my 2 close to my phone most of the day and they are not updating.

been trying by changing the battery for both my air tag, leave my 14 pro max to charger… yet nothing happen…

Same here :/ One's been stuck at 1.0.301, while the other's at 1.0.209. I've tried resetting them, putting next to my iPhone while charging it overnight for a week, and nothing...

Edit: It's Dec 2, and both my AirTags got updated to 2.0.24

I was using iPhone XR and had the same issue. I upgraded to iPhone 13 & the AirTags firmware was up to date next day.

Pretty sure Apple said that they'd be rolling out the AirTags firmware updates slowly through December to ensure there's no glitches.

Both of mine are still on 1.0.301

Whenever the update gets pushed to your iPhone, all of your paired tags will get updated when you're in strong bluetooth connection with them for at least 15-20 minutes. Now, distribution to the iPhones is what Apple has an algorithm that they're using to phase the update in.

AirTags that you don't routinely get good connection to (trunk of your car, under the hood) may take longer to get updated.

I'm happy the AirTag doesn't come with a lightning port, but plugging my AirPods, MagsafeBatteryPack, or anything to my Mac and updating it (automatically) within seconds after connecting it is very satisfying. Apple should really make a Firmware update tool that acts the same way as when setting up a Appletv or calibrating the picture or audio of it..

"this action will disconnect any Bluetooth accessory and disconnect from mobile network and wifi" I would be totally fine with that for 2 minutes if necessary if I could get the newest firmware to try out.

Edit: haha, just checked 3 of mine have updated overnight lol (have to go exchange my cars air filter AirTag to get that one to update now 😁)

There is no way to force a update on the AirTag. As long as it's within range of your iPhone when it's your time it will ge pushed.

We have three and only two have updated to the latest firmware.

The third has been near my phone daily and nothing.

Looks like a new firmware update was just released today.

2.0.36

Interestingly, the AirTag that is with me updated to it already.

The new 2.0.36 was released instead of the pulled 2.0.24 firmware. On 16.12.2022 all the AirTags will be updated to 2.0.36. Now it is available to quarter of the AirTags.
