This will be my first iPhone (on truck for delivery) and wondering what the best practice is for the first charging?

i'm sure there's someone that will disagree with me, but.......

i don't think it matters. the battery in the iphone isn't like the older ones that need a full charge/discharge cycle every month. it just likes constant charging, even if it's for a few minutes here and there it all helps keep it optimized.

completely disagree :)

First I would say check what the "quick start" card or manual has to say about it. I'm not sure either since mine isn't here yet. If there's no specific guidance in there, I'd say leave it plugged in the first time until you get the fully green "glowing" batter on the screen (you'll know the effect when you see it), and the battery icon changes from charging (lightning bolt) to plugged in (picture of a plug).

After that, as Que recommended I'd plug it in whenever you think about it and it's convenient while you're at home to keep it topped off.

I've had my 1st Gen since launch day and I'm a pretty heavy user (drain the battery most days) and have had no battery related issues so far...
