Hi all, I just bought my Macbook Pro today and I'm wondering how many hours should I charge the battery, for the first time. Is it the regular 8 hours (like normal laptops?)

Also, I tried to customise (change) my icon picture for 'Applications' but I couldn't achieve what I want and now I'm stuck with an ugly looking picture. How do I reset the icon back to default??

Thanks for helping! :)

Just plug the MagSafe adaptor in the computer and let it charge until the light turns green. On my MB it was very fast charging when I first got it - something like 1 hour. I'd say make sure you charge it up all the way though, just to calibrate it.

Not sure what you mean about this...can you explain a little further? Do you mean the applications folder in the dock? I don't understand.

You can start using the laptop before it's charged. When you plug in the ac adapter, the light will turn orange. When it's fully charged in will turn green.

You can also do that, except it won't charge as fast compared to if you did it when the computer was in sleep or off.

Oh! So I don't have to charge it for 8 hours like other IT products? (Like handphones and my old VAIO laptop?) ..on the same day my mom went to ask an Apple store and this salesman told my mom I need to charge for 8 hours (which I havent done so). I'm a bit confused, as to whether I should calibrate or do the 8 hour charge. :(

I've read the steps to calibrate already :) Will do it asap! Thanks!

How do I revert my icon back to the default one? :(

To change a Dock item back to it's folder (in the right side of the Dock) just right click on the Dock folder and select folder in 'Display As'.

Sounds as if you need the book Switching to the Mac: The Missing Manual. Trust me you will answer a lot of questions with this easy to read, funny writing book, it even has pictures in it.

Well, I would just charge it until the light turns green, which will mean it's fully charged, but I don't think it really matters if you don't :)
