iPhone 5 or earlier First iPhone sleeps with the fishes

I’ve re-purposed three old iPhones (3Gs, 4s and 5s) and sold my 6s this week. (Got an Xs 256g)

Last night while I slept my 3Gs decided to end its' life.

I had it hooked up to my stereo system as an internet music source and this morning I found it's battery (I presume) decided to expand dramatically.

Autopsy in progress.

Happened to my 3G last year. Too bad too, since it was a perfect match as a music player to the Bluetooth speaker in my daughter's bedroom. It had its own 3G-specific Griffin Aircurve stand too. Looked great.
