first JB

OK folks, just got my first iPhone and I'm about to Jailbreak and put it on T-mob. While everyone talks about how super easy it is, I have yet to find a difinitive step by step for this process. It looks like greenpois0n is pretty easy, but also a little buggy. What's the word on redsn0w? is it any better?


Any last minute pointers would be welcome!

different phone needs different software to jailbreak. You give us a 4.2.1 which is good. Now, give us more information about which phone you have and baseband.

iPhone4. Currently holds an ATT chip.

If I am not mistaken, your phone has a baseband of 03.10. You can find out by going to

Setting/general/about.

At the bottom of the screen, it gives you the modem firmware which is 03.10.

Your phone currently can't be unlocked. Only can be jailbroken at the moment. Greenpois0n give you an untethered jailbreak and it works fine. I have no issue with it at all.

Good luck not getting banned from the network (whether by IMEI, ICCID, etc) using that method.

You aren't unlocking that phone. Gonna have to wait for an unlock to be released, whenever that is, who knows.

Better to sell the phone and get an iphone that you can unlock.

First place I found out I couldn't unlock my phone is here. Damn I thought that's why I joined an Apple community. **** me. NBFD I'll just go with ATT. Someone lock the thread. ****.
