Okay, so it's a LITTLE outdated, but being 15 and this being my first mac, I'm super excited.
I was on my local website for people that sell stuff and this guy is selling a black macbook, 80gb HD, 1.25 RAM, Core Duo 2.0GHz, and in mint condition for 599.
I think after I upgrade the RAM, it's going to be perfect for me.

The sell isn't official, as he said he's getting a new macbook pro first and then transferring files over. So it'll be about a month wait, but he's holding it for me. If the new macbook is too irresistible, then I'll call him and tell him that I can't purchase it at the moment.

What do you guys think?

I'm mainly going to be using it with an external monitor, and bringing it with me every once in a while.
I do basic stuff on the computer. About as advanced as I get is iMovie and photo editing. Even then, that's not an everyday thing.

I think that the MacBook will serve you well for what you want to do. Congrats on your first mac.

Thanks. :)

I too bought a first gen blackbook and was very pleased over all. You really cant go wrong for 600!

BTW is this a craigslist deal? Just curious.

No, it's much more trusting then that.
It's our local market, www.southeasttexas.com .

I like it, because I can meet up with the seller and check out the product first before handing him my money. He seemed very trust worthy over the phone when I called him.

Thanks for the reassurance, I've never used a first generation one before, so I was a little scared that it might be quirky.

You already paid and he's "holding" it for a month???

Unfortunately that sounds like a scam.

Yeah, have you paid for it already? Sounds very dubious.

No! Haha, I would never give money away like that.
That's why I like this because I can try out the product before he even sees my money.

He said he put it up there looking to find some interested buyers for when he gets his new macbook pro with the update.
Actually, he said he's getting a new computer soon and he's waiting to transfer the files. That's when I said "Ah, so your getting rid of this so you can get the newer, faster, better looking machine when it comes out in a month, right?" He was kind of thrown off guard and admitted that's what he was doing, though he's opting for the new macbook pro.
He needs to hold on to it to transfer files.
I wish I could have it now, but I guess I can wait.
If it doesn't work out, I'm not out any money.

No, I have not paid yet. But he wrote down my number and took the ad down.

Ya know what, I have almost the exact same Macintosh. I'm running a white 2GHz Core Duo MacBook with 2GB of RAM and an 80GB HD. Yes, they are a little "outdated" now. But they are still fabulous machines and I love mine.

Congratulations! It'll last you for quite some time! :)

hey im using a 1.83ghz core duo now thats out dated but im keeping it for aslong as i can, but i might get a mini, just for my music and photos and main photoshop machine...
