I know it'll get dinged and scratched over time, but there is some kind of padded cover I can slide it in and out of, a case, or other means of protecting it that is highly recommended?

It's the 2 ghz aluminum one.

Foofbags are supposed to be nice, and they're pretty cheap right now since the AUS dollar is low, check out foofshop.com. I prefer a hard case to a sleeve so I never have to worry about it being unprotected. I use an incase hardshell, but they're not out for the MBs yet.

Ooooo, those are so cool! I'm going to order one.

also worth checking out AppleSac.

They make some really good looking unique sleeves that are all lined with soft fleece.

Ordered mine last weds and it arrived from Salt Lake City to the UK today. Its really good.
