That's Queen Street, Auckland, right? Even at this time of the year, rather there than Invercargill. Brrrr.

And the White Lady isn't too far away either. :)

Everyone knows the iPhone 3G won't be sold out, so they just look completely foolish. "Also in line was Evert Bruyns, 24, who plans to buy two iPhones." Whatever man...

I guess it's an easy way to get their 15 minutes of fame.

Actually when people stand out in line, it just creates more hype, and thus more people wait in line.

Don't be too sure on that, there are conflicting reports (aren't there always) that O2 stores and CPW stores could only be getting as few as a couple of dozen.....it may or may not be true, but I don't think we can count our chickens before they've hatched.

There is no way in hell, or on God's green earth, that a store will receive only 24 iPhones on launch day. That makes no sense at all.

The iPhone 3G will sell out, I'm positive.

It's now just a matter of when.

Good on the guys! - it's all part of the fun.

They won't look all that 'foolish' when they actually do manage to swipe the first ever retail, iPhone 3G in a matter of hours.

I'm only repeating what I've read......on the front page of this very site.....top left under iPhone Blogs, I read it somewhere else too but I forget where that was. All I'm suggesting is we don't assume it wont sell out quickly (O2 online fiasco)

Agree with R-Fly. Its all part of the fun. No one is forcing them to be there. If they are enjoying it, great! They will have a good story to tell.

Kiwis are really wonderful people and the one chap donating one of the phones is a great example of how nice they are.

Your right to quote it, as it is quoted from an official O2 customer e-mail responce, sent out to hundreds of people,
today, on behalf of Matthew Key, CEO of O2 and Telefonica Europe.

Yeah I forgot to add that part, thanks for picking up on that. True or not, it is quite worrying. I'm considering changing my initial plan of getting to the store for 8am and getting there a little earlier (not something that will please the fiancee)

Well, they certainly won't be the first in the world. I imagine some high up Apple staff will already have them, staff at AT&T (USA), staff at O2(UK), staff at all the other phone providers around the world that are selling them, maybe some reviewers, maybe some people stealing them out the factories they make them, or during transport.

But yeah, after these thousands of people who already have them then these will be the first idiots who actually queued up for days to get a new iPhone to get one. Queueing losers FTW!

They might be waiting in line for a long time...
