OK, this is my first stab at using automator.

I have 250+ files with the wrong extension (Consequently, they won't open). I tried the default rename command, but it won't change extensions.

Anyway I can modify it so it will?

Thanks

I've tried to get automator to play with file extensions before and was unsuccessful. What is the current extension and what do you need it changed to, and what kind of files are they? There may be an easier answer than having to change the extension.

Thanks for the reply,

Well, after a long render, Maya (7) spit out what were supposed to be PNGs. Technically they are (They'll open if renamed). Its just that freakin' maya spit out 'filename.png.1' > 'filename.png.250' etc. It numbered them after the extension []

See:

I would really rather not do this by hand :(

EDIT: Yes, I did name the files 'zomg'... I'm weird like that :D

Dang thats odd. Will they open in photoshop without changing the extension? If they would, you may be able to try a batch conversion that way... It seems like Maya would have different export options to avoid this problem.

That was my thoughts exactly.

I had a similar problem with some .pict files from max/msp and Photoshop managed a batch convert just fine
