When I first sync and wish to update my new IPhone with my previous backup data from my 3G.....do I answer new phone setup?? Thought I would ask before doing it incorrectly:confused:.

If you want all the settings, apps, media etc. to come back from the 3G, then select restore from a backup.

OK, thanks for the help. I'm assuming it will give me choices on backup so I can select the most recent done this morning.

It will ask if you want to restore from last backup and will give you the time and date of that backup.

I chose to set mine up as a new iPhone. I would rather not just transfer everything over but it's personal choice.

If you set it up as a new phone can you still get some of your old apps or contacts on it??

Sorry for being thick!

Your apps and contacts are synced to iTunes. You can set up the device as a new device, and still get all of your apps. Restoring from a backup is used mainly for maintaing settings.
