First time Jailbreaker, iPhone 3GS

Hi guys, I'm new on the forums and to the whole jailbreaking process, so I hoping that you guys could assist me on how to get started on this routine. As I mentioned, I am a complete newbie to this, so all I know is that I have the iPhone 3GS and it is running iOS 4.0 (not the latest one that came out in the past couple of days though, 4.0.1 maybe?). What program should I use to do this (e.g. redsn0w), what are its instructions and what other things will I need during the process? Thanks for any help!

Also, I am running Windows Vista 64-bit, so no Mac tools

Why is that? Do I need to downgrade or something?

you can't downgrade with out the shsh file for you phone, but you had to have had the phone jailbroken in 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 in order to do that.
